Duolingo!!! Spanish

Welcome back blog viewers who read this blog. This blog post I will be talking about Duolingo. I will be talking about what I like about it, if I have found anything difficult, has it helped me and do I have any tips about remembering words.

Things I like about Duolingo is that it's a fun way to learn a language. It is also cool when it says a certain percentage to show how much Spanish you can speak fluently.

Some things I have found difficult is remembering certain words, but after a while I slowly remember. Also trying to remember every day, but since I have it on my phone I can remember a bit more easily.  

It has definitely helped me because it repeats words but in different sentences and contexts. 

I only have one tip to remember words. It is to try and memorize the word and keep it locked in your brain.

Tech 2016!!!

I'm back with another blog post. This weeks blog post is about Technology (Tech). We do Tech every Monday afternoon from 1:00 to about 2:15.

Tech is held at Mount Cook school which is a very big school. We catch the bus the to Tech, we have two buses one for year 8's and one for the Year 7's.

There are five different activities which are Movie making, Cooking, Wood Work, Sewing and Electronics. At the moment I am doing Wood work and I am making a Battleship completely made from wood.

In the next few sessions I will still be making parts so I can put the whole thing together at the end. Also filing and sanding while take up a lot of time.

Some classes I'm looking forward to would be would be Cooking and movie Making cause I really enjoyed them last year and I am really excited  to do them this year.

I'm Back!!! New School Year 2016!!!

This year of 2016 has started off with a Bang and has started at a new level compared to previous years. This blog post I will be talking about people I have gotten to know, what I have enjoyed so far and what I have found challenging. Also how well I have used my time for work and some ideas that would help make the year a touch better.

Some people I have gotten to know better would be Dhyanesh and Hugo. I have gotten to know DJ (Dhyanesh)  a bit better cause he sits next to me on my desk. Also he is basically the only year 8 friend I have known a while. Dhyanesh is a great person cause we can work well together and get along well while having a great time. Hugo is Oliver's brother and last year I was good friends with Oliver last year so this year I'm friends with Hugo. Hugo and I get along well cause Oliver told Hugo a lot about what I'm like. 

Things I have enjoyed so far would be first day at tech which I am doing wood work. Also I have enjoyed dodge-ball on Friday, which is pretty obvious. The task system isn't such an enemy this year with some tasks that I enjoy. I have also been able to tasks done because I don't have to much activities on at night so I can work for a bit in the afternoon.

I haven't found to much stuff challenging cause there has only been a little amount of tasks but I will find it harder later in the year. With quite a few school trips at the start of the year I have some days out of school which made me go a bit harder but it wasn't to hard though.

Time management and organisation skills have come in helpful for the first few weeks. When year 7 I didn't have much skill in time management but it has definitely helped for year 8. Having the task system helps me do activities outside of school with much more ease.

I don't have many ideas at the moment but some ideas might come to mind later on in the year.

Favourite moments this year and Big Day Out

This weeks blog post is about my favourite moment this year and what the Big Day Out could be. Also what has been my favourite Big Day Out since I've been at School.

My favourite moment this year was the E.O.T.C week because we did lots of fun activities while missing a whole week at school. I cant really say much because I would be saying the exact same blog post that I did about E.O.T.C week. It was pretty fun when we went to El Rancho except from the Tubing. it was so cold it wasn't funny, it felt like it was -10 degrees. But the best part of  El Rancho was the free time at the end and we played a huge game of tag.

For the big day out I don't really know where we are going (well no one does). One of my guesses is an indoor sports place or inflatable place. My favourite Big day out was last years one when we went to an to jungle-Rama and did indoor sports and bowling.

Year 8 Swag

Next year I am going to be a Year 8 and I am going to talk about what I want to achieve and do next year.

Next year when I am a year 8 I want to get a Merit and Excellence badge for academic. I would also like to get another Science Badge and I might do forensics. Next year I want to get a key role in the Production because it will be my last year at St Ben's and my last St Ben's production for me to act in. Another thing I want to do is try to get into Northern Zone athletics and Swimming. It would also be cool if there was another sports fest because I found it really fun this year when I did dodge-ball.

Some of the things I am looking forward to is the production and the task system because I'll have a bit more knowledge about it than the Year 7's next year. Also I am looking forward to dodge-ball every Friday because the  Year 8's will wreck the Year 7's next year. Some things I might find challenging is trying to get tasks done when the production is on and when we are building up to it.

Book Week!!!

Last week was Book Week. We all had to do really fun activities like find golden tickets with clues to find them. Also there was a book Character Parade and Kate de Goldi came in and that is what I will be talking about.

On Wednesday Kate de Goldi came into talk about her life and what it is like being an Author. Kate went to a small school when she was young In the South island. She said she always loved writing books and plays. When Kate was young she loved writing plays for Her class mates to play out.

The book Quiz was another highlight because since I am a House Captain I organised it and ran the Year 1-2 quiz with James. It was great fun to organise the questions and choose the teams.

The book parade was my favourite event in book week. It was my favourite because I got to see everybody dress up in their Book Characters and I got to judge the costumes and hand out some certificates. I also enjoyed it because I got to dress up as a soldier and the uniform I wore was my Grandfathers which he used when he was in the army.

Favourite book when I was young!!!

My favourite book when I was young was The Adventures of Tintin "The Calculus Affair" By Herge.

The reason why I like this book is that there is lots of action and they are trying to escape from a Tank. It isn't really a story it is more of a comic but still qualifies for a book. This comic is based in Germany and  is about Tintin, Captain Haddock and Snowy chasing after two gang members who have Kidnapped Professor Calculus.

When I read the comic I was 6 years old and this was the second Tintin comics I read so this one interested me to read the rest of the comics.
