First, I am suppose to have a picture of my plant on this post but I have tried every possible way but nothing has worked. This blog post will be about four interesting facts I have learnt about plants from our science unit.
First fact:
I never knew plants reproduced, I knew about pollination but not reproducing. I didn't know plants had ovaries, eggs and all of that stuff.
Second fact:
I never knew some types of vermin can pollinate some plants. That one I found pretty interesting.
Third fact:
Another fact I found interesting but surprising was that there are barely any native plants in New Zealand that have fruit on them.
Fourth fact:
The final fact is that there are two different types of pollen. One type has light and smooth particles so that the wind can carry them through the air. The second type has heavy and rough particles so they can stick and stay on the animals fur or hair.
That is my blog post for this week.

Term 4 goals!!!
This blog post will be about if I still need to achieve my goals that I set for myself this term and if there is anything else I would like to achieve. Just something I would like to say: I am sorry for not posting on Monday because I had to much other work to do.
I have already completed all my goals for this term like one was getting through to Wellington zone for Vortex and try to get 100% in basic facts every-time.
Other goals I would like to complete before this term end would be try to get a 50 for cricket and get 100% in a ratios test. Another one would be complete all my tasks this week because I still need to do a maths sheet:(

Speeches!!! :(
This week we have to present our speeches in front of our class. My speech is about the History of Halloween. I will be writing about how prepared I am and somethings I need to focus on when I am presenting this speech.
I am pretty prepared to present my speech. I have memorised it pretty well but I could do a bit more practice. I usually practice my speech 4 times every afternoon so the words can be glued to my brain.
I have done cue cards but instead of writing bullet points I just wrote down my whole speech but I wont be reading my speech off the cue cards.
Some things I will work on is trying not sway while presenting my speech. Also I will try to do more hand gestures and also try put different tones in my voice.

Books, Books and more Books
Last week was book week and we did many activities and other stuff which related to books in some way. There were book quiz's run by the House Captains, an author visited our school and she talked about her latest book and how much research you have to do if you want to write or illustrate a book. We also had to do one book week activity, we could choose from filming a scene from a book, drawing a map of a setting from a book, make a model
of something from a book or create
a piece of art work which related
to a book. I am going to reflect
on my experience when I did these
activities.
The author who came in was Fifi Colston but she also does illustrations and she also enters pieces into WOW. Fifi talked about her life as a child and when she was going through college, and how she just did art every spare minute she had. I found the talk really interesting on how much work and research goes into a small picture book.
The book character parade was fun and it is really cool to see what people have dressed up as and how much effort they have put into it. The only hard thing was trying to quickly write down who have won prizes but the class' go past so fast its nearly impossible.
The book swap was a good idea because you could get new books for free. I know that's what libraries are used for but you can keep these books for as long as you like. The school should do it next year.
The book week activity I did was the art. I drew different things from the book War Dogs. The drawings were a waist up drawing of Winston Churchill, a beagle, RAF symbol and a cross for a dead servicemen.

Books I have read!!!
This blog post is about my favourite picture book I read when I was young and my favourite book I have read this year. I will explain a bit about each book and add a picture of the books. I will also say who my favourite author is and if I would recommend this book to any one.
The first book is my favourite picture book from when I was young which was and is still a good book to read is 'After the War'. It is written by Bob Kerr. This book is about a family who plant an apple tree in their garden when the father comes back from war. It goes through the years showing what happens to the city and how every thing changes every different page. It shows civilization changing and how the worlds technology is changing. It pretty much shows a time lapse of their town and how their farm slowing changes and people get older and new people enter the earth.I like this book because it has really good illustrations and the wording is very deep and meaningful. This book also shows how quickly things can change in the world.
My favourite book I have read this year would be 'The road to Winter' written by Mark Smith and William Smith. This book is about a boy Finn who tries to survive a disease that has whipped out his whole family and all his friends. One day he is out surfing when his dog, Rowdy, starts yelping its lungs out. Finn runs to the shore to find something that could change his life and something that will completely blow his mind. I liked this book because it had really cool adventures in it, the book was quite gory and there were so many nail biting moments. I would recommended this book to people who like gruesome books and like adventures book probably 13-15 year old.
I don't really have a favourite author because most of the books I read are really good and the authors are really good as well.

Production!!!
Last week we performed our
production in front of many people. Our production was Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies. I will be talking about what I enjoyed the most about my role, what was my highlight, the funniest moment and what I wish I had done differently.
What I enjoyed the most with my role was doing two different voices because I was Little John/ Big John. I also enjoyed saying a joke then listening to the audience crack up.
My highlight of the whole production would of been working with everybody else and listening to their ideas. Also watching people acting.
The funniest moment was when Iraklis fell of his chair on stage which just added to the comedy of the production. Also listening to certain jokes said by people.
Something different I could've done would of been doing have actions. But some of the lines I said were quite odd if I was going to do hand actions.
That is my blog post for this week see you soon for another.

First Blog Post for Term 4 - Quotes
This guy knows his stuff |
This blog post will be about a famous quote that was said in a speech performed by a famous person. I will be discussing who said it and why it appeals to me.
This is the quote:
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The man who said this was Martin Luther King Jr. He mentioned this quote in his speech 'I have a Dream'. This quote stood out for me because it was very creative and sounds as though he took time and effort make this quote. This quote means you cannot defeated or get rid of something by using the same thing, you have too use something else in the same way or in a different way.
